A Note From Jules

Nobody Wins Until We All Win

It doesn’t seem possible that we are beginning our 4th year of “Now We’re Talking”, the bimonthly newsletter of Heritage and Beyond the Sport. I am convinced that our “win–win” attitude is the lifeblood of our organization.

Around Heritage, we have a phrase that we refer to often. We call it the “abundance principle.” Simply put – we choose not to compete with one another, but do everything we can to support, encourage, and build each other up, both personally and professionally. We view what we do as a part of our calling, rather that just a job or a career. In striving to be the best we can be as individuals and in urging each other to settle for nothing less than the highest to which we have been called, our goal is to celebrate the spirit of cooperation and find what is mutually beneficial in all our relationships.

With a win–win mentality, there is no blame, just compromise and teamwork. Better listening occurs. Trust is the essence of the abundance principle and the foundation for open communication. A spirit of generosity exudes from those who embrace this principle. It is a willingness to “take as many people to the top with you” as possible.

What if we all chose to live by that principle on a daily basis? Let’s continue to look for ways to advance and enhance the lives of everyone we encounter on our journey. Perhaps it can look like a simple smile to the person on the elevator or a quick: “How is your day going?” to a waiter or cashier at the grocery store. Just think what it would be like at work, at home, and in our relationships if we all decided to assist each other toward accomplishing something for the greater good.

Abundantly yours,
Julie
